Vocational Services
People with Developmental Disabilities are employed in meaningful jobs throughout the country, providing needed services, adding to the economy, and enriching their own lives with a sense of purpose and accomplishment. REM North Dakota supports individuals in finding, preparing for, and achieving success at the jobs they choose.
Supported Employment
To help individuals successfully hold jobs of their choice within their communities, this program provides a full range of training and follow-up support services. Our Development Coordinator analyzes an individual’s interests and capabilities, suggesting additional technical or social skills training, which will enable a successful job experience. Each person is matched with a support specialist who provides customized support including transportation, job training and oversight—providing as much, or as little assistance as the individual requires on a regular, ongoing basis.
Job Training
Experienced staff in this program provide more support than the Supported Employment program. Individual and small group training focus on building employment skills such as punctuality, personal hygiene, workplace behavior, time management, self-control, stress management and using public transportation. Common job tasks to develop motor skills and self-confidence are also taught.
Center-based Day Services
To promote an individual’s ability to participate in and build community, REM North Dakota offers some center-based programs to accommodate those interested in participating in group activities such as arts and crafts, cooking, educational programs and physical exercise.
